Vermont Wood Pellet make super premium softwood pellets to users throughout New England.
Summary
2018–So what is up with the confetti I see in the bag this year? There is a distinct 2 tone color going on here but that is not an issue. The pellets burned awesome and super low ash as usual!
2017–Consistency is key when in today’s market dropping $1000 to heat your house is not unheard of. I’m not sure how they do it but year after year these pellets burn super hot and low ash. We are talking West Coast Doug Fir quality milled right here on the East Coast in beautiful VT. In Fact, they are right down the road form the summer camp I grew up at called Camp Sangamon where we would go to swim in the gorge around the corner from their mill.

I talked to the people at Fallon’s Home and Hearth. Very pleasant to talk with. They were baffled as to my issues with the pellets. They are sold out of Vermonts because everyone loves them. They said my quadrafire cb should love the Vermonts. They said the only possible explanation is that I sift each bag and that may be breaking down the pellets just enough to weaken them and the auger is then crumbling them. They said to try a bag or two without sifting them and see what happens. If that doesn’t help, they said they would refund my purchase. Great customer service so far… Thanks. I will follow up on the unsifted pellets.
Follow up to last post…. Vermont wood pellets do have the least amount of ash of all the pellets I’ve tried. That alone is not enough to redeem them. I have a 2012 Quadrafire Classic Bay 1200 Free standing. I clean and prep my stove meticulously so that’s not the problem!
Maybe it’s just me…..but I’m tired of trying premium or super premium pellets, paying top dollar and getting the shaft!…. I can’t take it anymore! Last February it was Cubex. Best of the best! Worst pellet I’ve tried! Oh but they had a bad batch come out for the first time ever!!! And I happened to buy them! So I went back to Maine Woods! And again, they were awesome! This year I figured I would try another super premium pellet that everyone raves about… Vermont wood pellets….I can’t believe I’m going to say this but these are worse than the cubex that I tried last year! I bought three tons from Fallon’s Home and Hearth in South Hampton. They defended these pellets last season after some not so favorable reviews saying that they got busy at the plant and were overwhelmed by the amount of business…. Well they won’t have to worry about my business again!!! Fifteen bags in so far….almost 10 full cups of fines and pure sawdust! The auger is jamming daily, multiple times! I am hand sifting each bag and pulling almost a full cup of sawdust out and the auger is still jamming! I just pulled out 80 lbs of sifted pellets and vacuumed the hopper to get the stove running again! I cleaned my stove and prepped it for summer and cleaned it again to ready for. The heating season. Stove is spotless! After I cleaned it and removed 80 lbs of pellets, the stove is finally running…..till it jams again! Wonder if Vermont pellets will do anything about this, or Fallon’s Home and Hearth! I had no luck with Cubex! They didn’t bother to respond to my problems with their pellets! What’s going to happen this winter when the stove continues to shut down at night when I’m sleeping and it’s 30* outside. Has shut down at least 10 times, usually at night!!!
We are a dealer of Vermont Wood Pellets, they are the best by far. This heating season things got a little crazy for them because of their increased popularity from last season to this season. At one point they switch to a new bag sealer and that would help increase production and they ran into issues with the bags sealing properly, at this point that problem has been resolved and we have not noticed any issues for months now.

As a Vermont Wood Pellet Dealer who offers delivery, we would come pick your bags up and switch them out for good ones free of charge, if you bought them from us. You paid for a product and a service, and there is no reason you should have to pay anything additional, or have to bring them here to switch them out. – If you bought them from us, please contact us and let us know so we can hopefully restore your faith in Vermont Wood Pellets.

Almost finished with my second year supply… 17 bags left after starting the winter with 3 1/2 ton. This winter was definitely colder than 2011-2012, and VWP did the job once again. I did experience one bad bag in the batch with what appeared to be clumped saw dust (very hard). If my memory serves me right, there were three or four clumps in that bag. Overall, I only had to clean my stove every 3-4 weeks and did not have any issues. I’ll be ordering 4 tons for next winter in the coming months.
Trying the Vermonts now. Usually burn 5T Okanagans in my XXV. Ran out and trying some others. These have excellent heat output with minimal ash, but I am having the same black soot buildup on the glass like some others. It looks terrible and will drive me to another brand.
I have a p61a and the Vermont’s put out great heat and hardly any ash. The only problem I have is that they blacken the inside of Harman. Glass, firebricks, and stove walls. This is the only pellet that does that for me. I’ve burned Spruce Pointes, Northern, and Lg Super Premiums this season and I’m only getting the black inside my stove with the Vermont’s. It cleans easy, just not nice to look at.
I have Harman XXV pellet stove,. The stove is awesome and this s my second year of burning pellets. I had two wood stoves for 20 years and a pellet stove beats them by a mile.
The first year I burned 3 tons of Vermont Pellets and was amazed at the low sh and the great heat. I had to supplement with a ton of Cubex in April(2012) and I was not impressed with them. For this heating sason I bought 4 tons of Vermont pellets from my Harman dealer. Many of the bags(29) were poorly sealed and broke as we carried them up to my closed in back porch where we keep them. Four tons do not even take up half the porch area. I e-mailed the factory and contacted the owner. She explained they had gotten new equipent and I must have gotten a bad batch before the realized the issue. She told me she contacted the dealer with my problem. She said they would take care of the problem whatever that meant. I was not lugging almost 30 bags back 20 miles to the dealer and I am sure they were not going to deliver them. They charge $75.00 for the four ton delivery. Many of the sealed bags had pellets that crumbled in my hands and were almost white. None of the bags are burning as well as the previous year so in my opinion the quality has gone down. At about $379.00 a ton plus delivery they are far from cheap. I am retred and clean my stove weekly. To be honest I have no idea what I am going to burn next season.
From what I have read about most of the manufacturers their pellets are all not as good as previous years. It is like everything else you buy now a days.
best i have ever used. very low ash great heat
Second year Quadrafire Santa Fe
I burn nothing but Vermonts (bought 6 ton this heating for this heating season) High heat low ash. I tried a couple others brands. Less heat, more ash, more work no thanks.
