This our 3rd year of having a pellet stove. My husband heard good things about this brand so we figured we would give it a try. We purchased 3 pallets! Unfortunately, they cause so much ash that we will most likely not buy them again. There are times that we can’t even start the stove unless we clean the entire area which has never been a problem. Very disappointed and not returning at the moment because they are packed in our garage and can’t imagine how we would return this many bags!
Thats Funny you say that, I bought 10 of these at the end of 2016 from Depot in Manchester and LOVED Them! Very Low ash I have the same stove the XXV. So I bought a ton this year 2017 from Depot in Concord. 1/2 the ton was great low ash 2nd 1/2 of the ton was garbage HUGE ash piles like in your Pic.
I have been burning fireside ultra for the last couple of years that I purchased at Home Depot in Concord NH,burns hot with a lot of ash . Last night I emptied a bag into the hopper and found a half dollar sized piece of concrete . In the past I have also found small pieces of wood that I hadn’t thought was a big deal, because pellets are made from wood. Very Disappointed!
I have a pleasant Hearth PH 35 PS. I have been burning pellets for three years I buy whatever brand Home Depot has ,I’ve never been picky. The past three years if you went outdoors, it smelled like wood stove smoke. I bought two pallets this winter I’m about halfway through the first pallet and I’ve noticed every time I smell the smoke it smells like Styrofoam burning like the pellets have been contaminated with something. Also it seems to be filling up the Ashpot much quicker than previous years .
Another follow that is of interest. As stated in my previous two reviews, my Fireside Ultra pellets are burning hot. Air temperatures are above 300 degrees F coming out of the blower. I just picked up four bags of Fireside Ultras from the same Home Depot. These bags have dark pellets and a lot of saw dust clinging to the inside of the bag, nothing like the clean light colored pellets I received in the pallets I purchased there. Burning them tells a story! They are putting out air temperatures 80-90 degrees less! I could tell the difference standing in front of the blower – I could stay there! The light colored pellets are the ones to get! The dark ones are burning ok, just don’t put out the heat like the lighter ones.
Just a follow up to my post a couple of weeks ago. These continue to burn well for me. My door glass stays pretty clean for about 24 hrs. The soot on the door vacuums off and then a quick clean with a damp cloth. Heat continues to be great. The air coming out of the blower is between 315-320 degrees F! Ash level is what I consider normal. I need to empty the ash pan about once a week or so. Bags continue to have a low amount of dust and fines. Very happy!
We have been burning these pellets for a long time. They are good quality and put off a ton of heat. My only complaint is that when we first started purchasing them our hopper took 1 bag and 2/3rds. Now it takes two bags to fill. I wonder if they are not filling the bags enough.
WARNING- JUNK! I didn’t want to travel to Lisbon Maine to buy good pellets so I picked these up tonight. 17 Nov. 2017 and they were almost full of sawdust.
What an awful mess be careful they might damage your stove.
Oh yes you can return them but what about the mess in your stove?
