Excellent Pellet hands down , with these pellets I can go two weeks til I clean my Harmon , they burn very hot and smell great , and they heat up my entire house .
I have been burning pellets for 8 years. I didn’t want to pay over $400 for Doug fir so I tried Matra softwood. They are the best pellets I have ever used. High heat low ash. I will definitely buy again.
These pellets burn all of 8800 btu's. Hottest i have used besides douglas firs.. low ash and the smell of fresh wood. Burning 8 yrs 24/7. Creosote? Never saw any. Some people burn without an outdoor kit for good combustion then blame the pellets. Some hardly ever clean the stove properly and blame the stove. Cant win so keep using the Matra if they work for you.
Great fuel for my Harmon and my Enviro stoves. Very little ash, they seem to ignite quicker than my previous brand, good heat. I bought several bags to get me thru this season. I’ll be buying at least two tons for next season!
I have used these for two winters now and could not be happier with any other brand for the price. High heat output, low ash, wityh a proper seal VERY minimal builup. I have ordered 4 tons on an after season special the last two winters and will continue to do so without hesitation until supply dries up.
I have been burning wood pellets for twenty years. When I went to Demers garden center they did not have wood pellets that they used to use they had these so I bought five bags. What a mistake. I clean my stove weekly and keep up on the maitinace and after burning one bag I had a hopper fire I am a retired firefighter and was able to put it out but will never burn these in my stove again I would give a negative review if I could since I can’t it will be one star.
Bought some end of 2018 and was please so ordered my amount for 2019. What a mistake. 1 pallet was clean but the other 5 were tons of sawdust. To the point it would shut down the stove. Had to shift every bag. Had as much as 2 cups of dust in the bags. Also bags that were poorly sealed, pellets falling out, getting wet. Twice as much cleaning needed. Strange smell, left a sticky film in the hopper so had to push pellets down manually. Very dissatisfied. Went back to Vermont pellets with no issues for 20/21 season.
The BTU’S are great but very dirty. Find myself cleaning stove more often since burning these pellets. Wouldn’t recommend these pellets. Low ash but very dirty
After one year, I bought my usual Maine woods pellets, the Matra seems to only burn clean when it burns hot, under a low flame it is ashy, and does build up creosote. Now, as I said, it could be the occasion batch, not sure. I’ll burn these when it’s coldest out, and see. To “Bob Jones” no buddy, I am not new to pellet stoves, as you can see from my initial review, I have burned many tons of pellets from all manner of manufacturers and have never had any problems at all, only with this one batch of Matra, which could be a bad batch, tough to say. I’ll update the review to 3 stars, since it does seem to burn cleaner when it burns hot. I do not recommend burning this on a day above 35 degrees or so. If you find the same problems, just use them when it is below that approximate temp.
