Summary
Sept 2019 – Got the bag in the mail a few weeks ago and put them in the hopper ASAP. Once the nights started to get colder these were a Blazin!. Fantastic pellet as usual! these are always one of my favs. Hardwood flooring companies can put out some of the best pellets. Kiln dried oak is always a pleaser. If you like these pellets then also check out Turman wood pellets or Greenway wood pellets.
I love these pellets. When you can find them at Depot, GRAB THEM!

Theses are the best pellets I have burned this year!. A little more expensive than all the rest, but I bought them when I was in a pinch. They put out the most heat and least ash of any I have bought this year. I have burned Nations Choice which were terrible, New Freedom are good and less expensive, but you get much more ash. Hammer is good also but expensive and second best to Somerset. For the Money I would go with the New Freedom pellets. If money is not an issue I would go with Somerset Pellets they put out the most heat and leave the least ash for clean up.
Absolutely the worst pellets we have used. One bag lasts only 3 hours. Other brands have lasted 8-12 hours each. At $6 a bag this is not cost efficient. I have also never seen such high ash production out of any pellet before. We won’t be buying this again.
Just bought our first few bags of somerset pellets for the year. These are by far the best pellet that I can get in my area. But damn 6.00 a bag is a bit ridiculous.
This winter has been long. we have used 5 ton of Somerset Pellets so far, we are about to run out and can’t find any pellets around the Cynthiana, Kentucky area. Any suggestions ????
I’ve used 4 brands of wood pellets this winter. This one is clearly the best I’ve used. Puts out high amount of heat. Hardly any clinkers at all. Very happy. Run a heatilator cab 50.
why is there a shortage of wood pellets in western Ohio? cannot find wood pellets anywhere.
Am interested in becoming a wholesale/retail dealer in Walton New York. We would be interested in buying 40 ton per wk this summer. Please let us know if this is possible. We also have shown interest in Ligistic pellets and are awaiting their replay. However, we feel that two and three different types of pellets would be beneficial. We have tested the temp of different pellets and ash and your pellets have our intrest. Thank You. Clayton Stanton, 6074348092
I use a Magnum corn/pellet stove for the last 5 years. I used Kentucky Kernel pellets at first. They burn very good, but expensive. The pellets burned great till it warmed up in January at everything sweat and then they didn’t burn at good. The following 2 years I burned corn and then ended up blending corn and pellets where I found that was the best for me. Corn prices went too high so I went to straight wood pellets. Burned a brand from Big “R” and Tractor Supply, reasonably priced, can’t remember the brand name. Came in white bag. Didn’t like that brand. Very dirty, sooty, and didn’t burn good no matter the amount of air and didn’t get the heat. Tried a few bags of Starlight from Lowes and didn’t care for them either. This year I found the local Tractor Supply selling Somerset wood pellets and bought 3 pallets after checking out the reviews and haven’t regretted it. I just bought the fourth and last pallet today from Tractor Supply. Somerset burns hotter and cleaner. I get more heat from these pellets compared to the others used. I feel I get the usual ash build up. I still clean stove once a week, two at the most to get the most heat from my stove. Clean fire box every 12-14 hours on number 3 setting where I was emptying fire box last year every 6-8 hours at the number two setting. Somerset may be a little more expensive than what I used last year, but its been worth it. I hope Tractor Supply gets them back next year.
I have a King/Ashley 551M pellet stove that I purchased last year. Used pellets from TSC and they were horrible didn’t burn good and had so much ash had to clean the stove every day! I found Somerset pellets at Lowes and loved them. they burn so clean and hot. this year went to TSC and they had Somerset pellets and I bought what they had. They don’t have anymore and I don’t know anyone in this area that is a distributor. We are now using Greenway Oak pellets and they don’t burn good and the ash is horrible. The stove has to be cleaned every 2 to 3 days. Sure do miss the Somerset pellets only had to clean once or twice a month and they lasted longer. Is there a dist. in this area please let me know! I love your pellets they are the best!
Have an Englander Sumner’s Heat stove. I get pellt creep, even on the lowest setting, no matter what brand of pellet I use. The only difference is, how long it tajes, and with Somersets, it takes significantly longer. They are (in 2013, at least) all hardwood, and yet lower priced than Lowe’s other hardwoid pellets. Burn pretty hot, too. Best pellet for tge price, by far.
